Education Approval Raises the Bar

When AHDI partnered with AHIMA a few years ago to launch its education approval program (EAP), it was the hope of both the association and the industry that the program would impact the way educational programs were addressing job readiness and preparing industry candidates to make the transition from school to work. Since that time, the EAP has approved 28 educational programs that meet the rigorous standards for curriculum assessment and approval. Such a significant number of programs demonstrate how an approval process can gradually establish a new standard for training and provide industry candidates with a credible source of programs from which to choose. AHDI is proud to acknowledge the schools below who have helped the sector to realize this goal (as of 10/3/11):

A&H Training Corporation   Medical Transcription Education Center (M-TEC)

AHDI Student and Postgraduate members are looking for experienced MTs to guide them as they enter the transcription industry. Sharing stories of your success, giving constructive and honest feedback, and sharing a realistic view of what is to come are all important parts of mentoring, and your guidance and knowledge can help make a student's story one of success! Find out more and volunteer today!

Quiz writers are needed to help generate online continuing education quizzes for credit-worthy articles in our publications. If you have strong writing/editing skills and an interest in serving the association on AHDI's Research and Development Team, please contact Kristin Wall (kwall@ahdionline.org) for more information (CEC earning opportunities available for CMTs).

Social Media Specialists Wanted: Components, if you do not already have a social media specialist (SMS), now is the time to broaden your horizons and enhance your knowledge and use of social media/networking opportunities. The SMS provides support and training on the component level to both leaders and members. The SMS will be responsible for community engagement and will be the point of contact for questions relating to the component's social media channels, as well as all other sites/services utilized by the component for community outreach and engagement. SMS training is provided by members of AHDI's Outreach Workgroup for News & Networking (OWNN), meeting on a monthly basis. For more information, contact Kristin Wall (kwall@ahdionline.org).

Membership Advisory Workgroup: The MAW has openings for volunteer members. If you have a passion for component support, building dynamic member communities, and growing membership, the MAW is for you! The workgroup meets monthly for an hour by webinar. Members typically have about 1 to 3 hours of projects each month. This is a 1-year term. For more information, contact Linda Brady (lbrady@ahdionline.org).
