Volunteer Opportunities Available!

Call for eMentors: As the holidays approach, tap into your giving side and volunteer your guidance to the next generation of MTs! AHDI Student and Postgraduate members are looking for experienced MTs to guide them as they enter the transcription industry. Sharing stories of your success, giving constructive and honest feedback, and sharing a realistic view of what is to come are all important parts of mentoring, and your guidance and knowledge can help make a student's story one of success! Find out more and volunteer today!

Quiz writers are needed to help generate online continuing education quizzes for credit-worthy articles in our publications. If you have strong writing/editing skills and an interest in serving the association on AHDI's Research and Development Team, please contact Kristin Wall (kwall@ahdionline.org) for more information (CEC earning opportunities available for CMTs).

Social Media Specialists Wanted: Components, if you do not already have a social media specialist (SMS), now is the time to broaden your horizons and enhance your knowledge and use of social media/networking opportunities. The SMS provides support and training on the component level to both leaders and members. The SMS will be responsible for community engagement and will be the point of contact for questions relating to the component's social media channels, as well as all other sites/services utilized by the component for community outreach and engagement. SMS training is provided by members of AHDI's Outreach Workgroup for News & Networking (OWNN), meeting on a monthly basis. For more information, contact Kristin Wall (kwall@ahdionline.org).

Membership Advisory Workgroup: The MAW has openings for volunteer members. If you have a passion for component support, building dynamic member communities, and growing membership, the MAW is for you! The workgroup meets monthly for an hour by webinar. Members typically have about 1 to 3 hours of projects each month. This is a 1-year term. For more information, contact Linda Brady (lbrady@ahdionline.org).

Contribute to the Growth of a New MT. Become a Mentor Today!

Serving as a mentor can be a rewarding experience for an MT practitioner. It is an opportunity to develop and expand leadership capabilities by investing in the future of an MT student or postgraduate. You can enhance your coaching and communication skills while sharing both life and work lessons with the student or postgraduate—guiding, encouraging, and inspiring them to achieve worthwhile goals. There is great satisfaction to be found in helping another to succeed, and this is a real opportunity to enhance your contribution to the profession!

Participating as a Mentor will also help you accumulate CECs! For each Mentee you are paired with you will earn 1 Professional Development CEC toward your CMT recertification. For more information on becoming a mentor, review the Mentorship Program Policies or email Cassie Uber, credentialing and education coordinator, at cuber@ahdionline.org.

Mentors Needed for ACE First Timers

If you’re an ACE veteran willing to mentor a first-time attendee, we could use your expertise and insight. Mentoring involves getting connected to your first-timer prior to the convention, answering any questions about event preparation and logistics, and meeting up with your first-timer on site to help him/her plug in to the convention and to association life. Please email Lea Sims (lsims@ahdionline.org) if you are willing to serve in this capacity for ACE’09 in Nashville.

If you are an ACE first-time attendee and would like to be partnered with a mentor, please contact Lea Sims at the email address above. Mentors will not be assigned on site.
