AHDI's Outreach Workgroup for News & Networking (OWNN) is looking for enthusiastic, goal-focused people to join this workgroup. The primary objective of AHDI's Outreach Workgroup for News and Networking (OWNN) consists of external messaging, oversight of the news and media, and viral communication to ensure delivery of a clear and unified message about who we are and what our contribution to healthcare delivery is and should be. To help with this effort, OWNN also coordinates webinars to help train component liaisons in the above-listed areas that relate to social networking.
Note: We are also looking for a Linked In expert to present on this topic to our component social media specialists. If you are well-versed user of Linked In and are willing to present, or are interested in joining OWNN, please contact Kristin Wall (kwall@ahdionline.org).

If you think tweeting is "for the birds," this is the webinar for you! This webinar will explain how the popular microblogging service Twitter can be effectively used to facilitate networking for busy professionals. It's not just for meeting up with old high school friends and swapping photos. Twitter is powerfully designed to keep you connected to important events, critical professional initiatives, and breaking news as well as to colleagues whose shared messages can help position you for opportunity and growth. Also, if you're coming to ACE in Austin this year, we'll be encouraging attendees to use Twitter to share the experience with colleagues who can't attend, so come check it out! Soon you'll be "tweeting" like a pro!
Jay Vance has been active in the medical transcription and health information technology fields in a variety of capacities since 1999. He is a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) and works as a technology product specialist for Superior Global Solutions, Inc. He has been a digital technology and HIPAA compliance consultant to small MTSOs and independent contractors. He has also served as a technical consultant for the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) and played an integral role in launching a number of technology initiatives for AHDI, including co-founding the association's first online component, introducing webinar technology for continuing education and web-based meetings, and providing the original design for the Professional Practices Network. He is currently the Administrator/Moderator for the AHDI Lounge blog and serves on the AHDI Outreach Workgroup for News and Networking (OWNN). Jay has written extensively for healthcare documentation trade publications and traveled widely to give live presentations on such subjects as speech recognition, HIPAA compliance and social networking for professionals. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Gateway Community College medical transcription educational program.
