Free Online Clinical Medicine CECs

Looking for continuing education credits in the clinical medicine category? Visit www.mycme.com and register to gain access to hundreds of free CECs. Read an article, take a post-test, score 70% or better and print off your CEC summary form. It's that easy! Any presentation worth AMA credit is fully transferable to your CMT credential.

Attention RMTs Due for Registration Renewal

Is it time to renew your RMT credential? If so, then you are most probably well aware of the benefits your credential has provided as you began your career in healthcare documentation. Now that you have established a solid foundation and have gained some valuable experience, you may be considering credentialing at the next level – testing for the designation of certified medical transcriptionist (CMT). If you’ve determined that you are ready for this next step, take advantage of the last opportunity to participate in an AHDI Credentialing Cup.

Participation in the cup is simple:

Create or join a testing team with 9 or more of your study buddies (applicants for either the CMT or RMT may join the same team)
Pick a team name and register it with AHDI
Take the CMT exam (at the discounted rate of $150!) by June 30, 2009

A Study Group Kit including guidelines, suggested curricula, test-taking tips, FAQs, and three information-packed PowerPoint presentations is available for free download at:

Share Your Knowledge – Earn CECs

Are you an expert in something that would benefit your colleagues? AHDI is always looking for individuals willing to offer educational webinars or write informative articles for our publications. CMTs who give a credit-worthy webinar presentation can earn 2 CECs in the same category. Those who submit a credit-worthy article that is published can also earn 2 CECs, with an additional CEC given if you add a 20-question quiz to go along with it. CMTs interested in writing articles for Plexus or Health Data Matrix can submit their articles to Kristin Wall at kwall@ahdionline.org. Anyone interested in presenting a webinar, please submit an abstract to Andrew Wolf at awolf@ahdionline.org.

CMT Recertification Tip

To help streamline your recertification process, print out the CEC summary form (available here) and put it into a file folder where you can collect your CEC forms as you complete credit-worthy activities or attend events. Every so often, go into that file and record the CECs as you accrue them. Not only will it make recertifying much easier, but it will help you track which credits you still need before your 3-year cycle is up.
