Farzad Mostashari Challenges Showcase for Interoperability at HIMSS 2012

The National Coordinator for health IT challenged participants in the HIMSS12 Interoperability Showcase on Thursday, Feb. 23, to demonstrate readiness for integration by securely exchanging information with an unrelated partner within one hour. The Health Story Project participated and was successful in exchanging a clinical document within the challenge deadline with TWO separate demonstration partners across the showroom floor. A History & Physical was sent by way of the Verizon Business Medical Data Exchange to the STEM Transition of Care Pilot and to EMR vendor OnBase using HL7 Consolidated CDA®. This reveals the effectiveness of the Consolidated CDA standard for exchange of health data at a moment's notice. Consolidated CDA is a recommended standard for clinical documents in the proposed rule supporting Meaningful Use Stage 2. Read more about Consolidated CDA and the Health Story demonstration at HIMSS12 at www.healthstory.com.
