Book of Style Boot Camps Are Back - Register Now!

Don’t miss this wildly popular series.

Book of Style Boot Camp Series, Part 1: General Standards of Style
Date: November 10
Time: 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. PST/6:00 – 7:30 p.m. EST
Presenter: Lea Sims, CMT, AHDI-F, Director of Professional Programs, AHDI

This 1.5-hour session will provide students, postgraduates, and RMT candidates with an overview of section 2 of The Book of Style for Medical Transcription, 3rd edition. Experienced MTs and/or CMTs would also find this course a good refresher of general language standards, though this session is not credit-worthy due to its level-1 content. RMT exam questions for objectives 1.14 through 1.25 of the new RMT blue print require candidates to be familiar with standards of style outlined in BOS section 2 (ie, Chapters 4-9). We will explore those standards, look at sample questions taken from the BOS workbook, and discuss a meaningful study approach to understanding these concepts for the RMT exam.

Readership Survey Drawing Winner

We would like to thank all of the members who participated in our recent publications and communication survey. Congratulations to Mrs. Cheryl Ann Whitaker, CMT, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who won the raffle for a complimentary copy of The Book of Style for Medical Transcription, 3rd edition!

Approximately 3,000 members were randomly selected to provide feedback on their satisfaction with the effectiveness of the association’s communication efforts, including our publications, electronic communications, and the website. Getting meaningful, relevant information into the hands of our members is an important goal, and their insight into how well we do that and where we can improve is critical to our growth as an organization. We heard from 15% of the members surveyed and the feedback and input received is being reviewed by the staff, AHDI Board of Directors, and other volunteer groups as they set goals for 2011.

RMT & CMT Eligible Candidates—Schedule Your Exam Now!

If you requested and received an RMT or CMT 90-day exam eligibility prior to September 30, you must register and take your credentialing exam by December 31 with Prometric or you will forfeit your eligibility. We strongly suggest you schedule your exam as soon as possible. With the huge influx of candidates requesting to test by December 31, exam sites will be filling up fast. You may not get the date or testing site you prefer if you wait. If you are eligible, you should already have received an "Authorization to Test" letter from the AHDI office via email with all the information needed to schedule your exam with Prometric. If you are waiting to take the new exams planned to launch in early 2011, please keep reading your AHDI communications for updates. We hope to start accepting eligibility requests in December, if not sooner.
