Just Released! Speech Recognition Adoption Guide

With a growing segment of the healthcare documentation sector moving toward a back-end SRT delivery method, purchasers and adopters of the technology have long needed a best practices resource for integration of SRT in a way that facilitates high-integrity documentation outcomes and measurable return on investment. In response to this need, MTIA has developed the Speech Recognition Adoption Guide to assist the sector in making purchasing and adoption decisions, to address the relevance of speech recognition technology as an evolving method of clinical documentation, and to present operational and fiscal implications for technology adoption. The guide is designed to help consumers understand adoption-related issues, impact, terminology, standards, and metrics. In addition, the guide presents unified perspectives of the varying stakeholder groups concerning issues such as documentation quality and risk management. To read the just-issued press release about the guide, click here.

Thank You, AHDI Volunteers

Life moves quickly; time is limited. There’s no doubt about it. It’s important to take a moment to pause and appreciate not only what we have accomplished, but who helped make it happen.

For AHDI, it’s the hundreds of volunteers who share their time and expertise to make it happen. Organizing local members to write Congress, mentoring students, participating in committees, facilitating list serve discussions, fundraising, serving on the Board of Directors, speaking at conferences, and researching terms—these are only a few of the things our volunteers do to help us reach our collective goals as a healthcare documentation community.

We extend a warm "Thank You" to each and every one of our volunteers. Thank you for everything you do for the nearly 15,000 individual, company, and educational members of AHDI. Please join us in celebrating our volunteers and their contributions during National Volunteer Week.

Why We Matter to Healthcare—MT Week 2010

Promoting the vital and contributory role of healthcare documentation specialists will be the central theme for National Medical Transcriptionist Week this year. As healthcare reform reshapes the delivery of patient services in the United States and regulatory agencies determine the definition of "meaningful use" of EHRs, there has never been a better opportunity for this sector to demonstrate its value in accurately and securely capturing America’s healthcare stories. This means aligning our key messages with healthcare’s goals and demonstrating why we matter to the health data capture process, both now and in the evolving EHR. You can be a part of promoting these key messages to your employers, employees, clients, and colleagues. Download the MT Week poster/flyer and post it in your workplace, share it with your clients, and promote it to regulatory agencies and legislators. If you are an MT or MT employer, consider an investment in this future value proposition by enrolling yourself or your employees in our Speech Recognition Editing Course and receive a special $100 discount off the cost of registration for May and June courses in celebration of MT Week.
