AHDI Board Reaches Decision on Renaming National MT Week

At the AHDI National Leadership Board May 18 meeting, the Board approved to continue with the name National Medical Transcriptionist Week. Earlier this year, the Board sought feedback on plans to rename the annual event to reflect the expanded roles of healthcare documentation specialists. More than 350 people weighed in, with the community’s divided opinion expressed through the open comments section.

The Board is forming a task force to work on developing a one-day annual fall event centered on healthcare documentation integrity. The task force will recommend a name and the timing. A decision will be made at a later date whether to launch this in 2015 or 2016. AHDI is seeking volunteers who would meet online between June and August during business hours. If you wish to volunteer, please contact Tina Wilson by email: twilson@ahdionline.org.

In April 2015, TJC sent out a Quick Safety alert under the heading “Transcription Translates to Patient Risk.” (Every HDS/medical transcriptionist should read it.) Read more.
